I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never been much of a Reddit reader.
It’s not that I have an aversion to it, but I just never saw too much applicability to my own interests.
I now realize that was one of my most ignorant thoughts.
Reddit has everything.
It’s the Walmart of the Internet.
Only, it doesn’t fuck the world over, or intentionally put other websites out of business. I’m also pretty sure it doesn’t hate gay people…
Ok so it’s nothing like Walmart, but you kind of get the idea.
It has everything.
The writer of a blog post I recently stumbled upon, (which I’ve linked for you below!) describes Reddit as the Internet’s “community square” and as an “integral step toward [a] unified and peaceful planet”.
Wow… Walmart was a horrible comparison. I doubt they’re working on world peace, but who knows.
Why have I suddenly become so Pro-Reddit?
A Facebook friend recently posted the aforementioned article, about the best SubReddits.
The article graciously files these SubReddits into categories based on interest and links to each one.
The list encompasses everything from sustainable living and existentialism discussions, to literary discussions (a personal favorite) and of course, cat photos! (another personal fave)
I love the idea of a community square for the world.
I envision all these people, scholarly or just plain interesting, chatting, eating food and learning. It’s a bit idealistic, but who wouldn’t want to be apart of a more peaceful and connected universe?
Unless you hate the world, and in that case I can’t help you.
Anyway, the blog I’m linking to posted two lists. I’m including both links below.
