National Coming Out Day

Per usual I am a day late and a dollar short on my post, but I work full time and go to school full time so sometimes sleep takes precedent to posting and I apologize for this.

I also have a problem where as soon as I sit down at my computer, all potential brilliance exits and I’m left typing out the bare bones of an idea I conceived two bowls of coffee ago.

Anyway. October 11th is National Coming Out Day and I have a few things to quickly talk about.

1. Please sign this petition HERE.  The LGBTQA people of RIC need an LGBT Center on campus.   Yes, they NEED it. If you’re wondering why they need it, I’ve borrowed their statistics from the petition page.

2. The table at RIC had a sign where you could pose with a sign that said “I’m coming out as_______” and you filled in the blank. I wrote “I’m coming out as an Ally, friend, supporter”. Though I’m not really “coming out” as in this is a new thing for me, I think it’s important to reaffirm the importance of being an ally to this community.

So if you have a second, please sign the petition and if you don’t have a second, make one.

Until next time
